This fantastic project yields the first results on the water quality in Bulaba and Escobal rivers, in the upper part of Santa Maria river inside the Santa Fe national park. The results indicate that during the dry and rainy seassons of the sampling period (2014), the water quality of both rivers was very good, providing evidence of the importance of preserving the forest inside the Santa Fe NP, in order to mantain water resources for human consumption downstream. However, the challenge now is to continue the monitoring in the coming years to establish a robust base line. A complete report and a per reviewed scientific publication will be prepared soon. This project has been a cooperation between Panama Wildlife Conservation and The University of Panama in Veraguas, generously funded by Fundacion Natura de Panama.
