Luis is a Biologist graduated at Imperial College London. He is Programmes Director at Panama Wildlife Conservation and works on a large number of projects, which focus on Science and media production. Luis plays a key role in the development and implementation of research and conservation initiatives. He is responsible for co-ordinating project development, which includes fund-raising, liaising with partners, increasing the profile of Panama Wildlife Conservation and identifying research initiatives that could be applied to the protection of Panama’s biodiversity.

As Programmes manager, Eric has the responsibility to develop, implement and monitor conservation research programs in Panama, in close collaboration with other members of PWC. Eric is an enthusiastic field conservationist and environmental educator, with ability to visualize opportunities and construct collaborative networks among researchers and local stakeholders, playing a key role in setting the ground for the success of the PWC projects. He has a broad experience serving in government agencies, private companies, research institutions and in international as well national NGOs; conducting independent or collaborative research in areas like eco-hydrology, wetlands carbon stocks, evolutionary ecology, and herpetology along different ecosystems in Panama.

ROLE: PROGRAMMES MANAGER
Ricardo is a Biologist who is a PhD student at Acharya Nagarjuna University. He is Conservation Programmes Advisor at Panama Wildlife Conservation, performing consulting activities on the current strategies for conservation of natural resources. His fieldwork experience includes the molecular epidemiology and cellular signaling of animal and human infectious diseases. In addition, Ricardo is part of the organisation team for project development, including the evaluation for measuring the impact of conservation methodologies that are being applied in Panama tropical forests and coordination of field actions.

Laura Pineda is an environmental biologist graduated at the University of Panama. Laura is currently working in the International cooperative Biodiversity group as a research assistant and is helping PWC to develop research and conservation strategies in Panama.
For the last 10 years, Laura has been working on projects related to conservation biology. Her main interests in Panama Wildlife Conservation are to develop and carry out environmental education programs for communities around Cerro Hoya and Santa Fe national parks.

Zeuz is a Biologist who studied a master in tropical diseases at the university of Costa Rica. Since 2011, Zeuz has been the national coordinator for a Leishaminais proyect in Panama. Zeuz has been an active PWC member, he has been working on the creation of a program and logistics for the conservation projects developed by our association.

ROLE: RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Cesar studied at Economy and Management at the University of Panama and Universidad Tecnologica de Panama. He also carried out a master degree in fish management at Barcelona University in Spain. Cesar has been heavily involved in conservation and community programs during the last 15 years and has been an active member of several NGO in Veraguas province. Currently, he is an independent consultant in environmental conservation and business development in Santiago city, Veraguas. Cesar also works in national programs aimed to fight rural poverty (FIDA) and community projects management, “red de oportunidades” Panama, all of then financed by Inter-American Development bank (BID). Cesar has become an active member and volunteer for the projects that PWC aims to develops in Veraguas.

Beulah Garner is a senior curator of Coleoptera (beetles) at the Natural History Museum, London; with responsibility for over 3 million specimens including the Carabidae, Cleroidea, Myxophaga and Archostemata as well as the Coleoptera larval collection. She is an experienced fieldworker focussed on developing the NHM collection of Neotropical Coleoptera. Her research interests also are focussed in the Neotropics in particular the systematics and evolution of the subfamily Lebiinae, a hyper-diverse group of predatory ground beetles of economic and ecological importance. She is passionate about the natural world, in particular species discovery and conservation. Her position at one of the world’s leading scientific institutions on natural history gives her opportunity to not only research the world’s biodiversity but also engage in scientific outreach to an international audience.
